ONEIDA CO., N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Oneida County is inviting the public to another Zoom-in garden class with CCE Master Gardener Volunteer Rosanne Loparco, Wednesday, June 24, 2020, 7:00-8:00pm. Whether in a small space, on a balcony, or large landscape, containers let you garden anywhere, even where there isn't any soil. Rosanne will teach you how to grow plants in containers. The class will encompass everything from the basics of what plants need for healthy growth to designing an attractive container.
Almost anything can be grown in a container, annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs, even vines and small trees. Class zoom-ins will also find out how just about anything that can hold soil can be a container. Find ways to repurpose items around your home into attractive and useful garden displays. Ideas for container designs will also be provided. Participants will discover the limitless plant possibilities and an equally amazing variety of containers. For details and to register for the class visit: http://cceoneida.com/events/2020/06/24/container-gardening-with-rosanne.
Are you experiencing lawn or garden problems? The solution may be as simple as having your soil pH tested. CCE in Oneida County is still offering FREE soil testing for county residents for up to 3 total samples. To see how to take and submit a soil sample visit http://cceoneida.com/home-garden/gardening/fact-sheets/soils and click Taking a soil sample for pH.
Samples must be left in the plastic bin outside the CCE building front door at 121 Second St. in Oriskany, NY. Please leave just ¼ cup dry soil per sample and be sure to fill out the top of the form in the bin. Your results will be mailed to you unless you leave an email address that it can be sent too.
Cornell Cooperative Extension is always there to help answer your garden questions. Call 315-736-3394 and use extension 100 to leave your garden questions. Your call will be returned as soon as soon as possible on weekdays from 8:30am-4:30pm.
