ORISKANY, N.Y. — The four upcoming garden classes hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) Oneida County Master Gardener Volunteers are now requiring interested attendees to register. In recent weeks unwanted and disruptive attendees have been finding their way into publicly posted zoom meetings. To keep the classes secure, the CCE Communications Department at Cornell University has made recommendations to their county CCE offices. With these guidelines in mind, if you own a computer and have internet, you can join these free virtual gardening classes.
The first class is this Wednesday April 15th at 7pm, Get Ready to Grow, featuring all the gardening basics. Visit our website http://cceoneida.com/events/2020/04/15/gardening-class-sessions-free-online-classes to register, for more dates and for simple instructions on how to join a Zoom meeting.
More upcoming classes include:
- On April 22nd Safe Pesticide Use for the Home Gardener will teach virtual attendees that at some point every gardener encounters problems. Rosanne Loparco, Master Gardener Volunteer, returns to share her garden knowledge as she introduces home gardeners to alternative pest control methods in the garden before they reach for a pesticide.
- Because a vegetable scrap is a terrible thing to waste, Holly Wise, CCE’s Consumer Horticulture Resource Educator, will take class members on a virtual tour during Composting Basics on April 29th.
- There’s never been a better time to consider growing your own food. You don’t want to miss Master Gardener Volunteer, Rosanne Loparco’ s lesson on Growing Vegetables and Small Fruits, May 6th at 7:00 pm.
