ROANOKE, Va. — MidAtlantic Farm Credit and Farm Credit of the Virginias – the two Farm Credit associations serving West Virginia – made a recent collaborative donation totaling $10,000 to the Mountaineer Food Bank. The Mountaineer Food Bank is the largest emergency food provider in West Virginia, distributing over 20.7 million pounds annually.
“The Mountaineer Food Bank is grateful to have continued support from Farm Credit,” said Mountaineer Food Bank CEO, Chad Morrison. He continued, “Their $10,000 contribution enables us to continue serving food insecure individuals through our Mobile Food Pantry Program, which provides fresh produce, proteins, dairy products and shelf-stable foods to thousands of households each month.”
Farm Credit of the Virginia’s Chief Executive Officer, Brad Cornelius, said, “Farm Credit is a mission-driven organization. Our support of agriculture and our rural communities extends financial services, and is not possible without partners like the Mountaineer Food Bank. Our long-standing partnership with the Mountaineer Food Bank is a win-win in our book – in that it allows us to advance their vital hunger-relief efforts in West Virginia while also benefitting our hardworking farmers.”
