Would you like to become a Certified Master Gardener?

HERKIMER, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension — Herkimer County announces the 2022 Master Volunteer Training program. This program is for those interested in learning more about gardening and sharing that knowledge with the public through community-based volunteer activities.

The Master Gardener Training Program is held jointly with the Cornell Cooperative Extension offices in Delaware and Schoharie/Otsego counties. They are a mix of weekly on-line Zoom sessions with leading experts in garden-based learning including, botany, horticulture, soil health, pest management amongst other topics. Through the training period, there will also be monthly trips to gardens, arboretums, and university research labs. Training will be offered via Zoom on consecutive Mondays from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Depending on the COVID-19 situation, in-person learning experiences may be offered (but will not be mandatory). Classes begin on Monday, September 19, 2022, and run through March 13, 2023, except for holidays – twenty sessions altogether. The cost of the program training is $150.

Each Master Gardener makes a commitment of 30 hours per year of volunteer activity for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County’s educational and service initiatives.
