ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Does the idea of fresh eggs for breakfast gathered from your own small flock sound appealing? Did you know that an average hen will lay an egg a day? If you plan on having three hens, you are looking at as many as 91 dozen eggs per year! Small-scale and backyard poultry is emerging throughout all parts of Minnesota. To accommodate this growing sector of agriculture, University of Minnesota Extension is offering a Backyard and Small Flock Chicken workshop. This workshop is designed for beginning chicken keepers in urban and rural settings. Whether you’re a chicken owner, or considering chickens in the future, this workshop is for you!
Join University of Minnesota Educators and Specialists for a day of Poultry Education on Saturday, March 10th from 9:30am-3:30pm at the St. Cloud Regional Extension Office. The office is located at 3601 18th Street South, Suite 113, St. Cloud. Topics for the workshop include Chicken Breeds, Poultry Regulatory Issues, Poultry Husbandry, Poultry Nutrition, Biosecurity, Issues in Raising Poultry, and Raising Baby Chicks.
