UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Extension will host a “Women Rooted in Agriculture” event with an on-farm experience to learn about the successes and challenges of starting and operating a value-added enterprise on a dairy farm. On Thursday, June 2, Mapes Farm Fresh, LLC, 8180 State Route 304, Mifflinburg, PA 17844, will host this event for women in agriculture including those who want to learn more to support and provide educational opportunities.

There will be a tour of this recently opened creamery that processes and sells cream-line milk fresh from their Brown Swiss cows.

Participants will learn about advertising and using social media to effectively market and sell their products.

Extension Educators Samantha Gehrett and Cassie Yost will be joined by Sarah Cornelisse, Senior Extension Associate, as instructors for this day of education and networking with others who share an interest in agriculture.

The program is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is no charge for the event which includes lunch, but space is limited so pre-registration is required by May 30. To register, visit https://extension.psu.edu/women-rooted-in-agriculture-value-added-on-the-dairy.
