WEBSTER CITY, Iowa — Hop on board and ride in comfort as we tour some of Iowa’s agriculture businesses. Pre-registration is required. The bus tour will take place in Hamilton County on June 28, 2018 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. The bus will begin loading at 8:30 a.m. and leave promptly at 9:00 a.m. Meet at K-Mart just off Highway 20, 2307 Superior St., Webster City, Iowa. Boone River Ox Bows Lakes Area
Participants will tour a row crop farm that has installed ox bow lakes near the Boone River watershed. Specialists will discuss end of field conservation practices and management of watershed in row crop and pasture situations.
Lost Lake Farm
A unique dairy and cheesery with a herd of grass-fed dairy cattle, milk from 24 cows is turned into artisan cheese and sold locally. Tour participants will learn about cheese production and sample the niche products.
Three Sisters Farm
Learn about organic sheep production along with predator and pasture management. We’ll enjoy a catered lunch on the farm. Speakers will discuss water and soil management practices including strip tillage, bioreactors,buffer strips and cover crops.
