HARRISBURG, Pa. — Following the Center for Rural Pennsylvania’s release of its broadband availability and access report in Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf stressed the need for Restore Pennsylvania to expand broadband access to every Pennsylvanian:
“Broadband is as essential in today’s society as electricity. Not having broadband limits your ability to do business, find a job, access information and so much more.
“Our lack of broadband access keeps children from accessing online assignments and homework and deters businesses from moving to our state.
“Noting a historical lack of investment in this critical infrastructure asset, today’s report helps by identifying the gaps in broadband access throughout Pennsylvania but falls short of identifying ways to fund increased access.
“As a response to this issue, I’ve proposed funding high-speed internet access projects as part of my Restore Pennsylvania initiative. Restore Pennsylvania will bridge the digital divide in every community across the commonwealth, ensuring that every Pennsylvanian has access to high speed, reliable and affordable internet service.
“The people of Pennsylvania deserve access to modern utilities — including broadband internet, and we have the ability to bring it to everyone through Restore Pennsylvania.”
