OLYMPIA, Wash. — Based on June 1, 2022 conditions, Idaho winter wheat production is forecast at 68.6 million bushels, up 51 percent from last year. Harvested area, at 730,000 acres, is up 90,000 acres from 2021. Yield is expected to average 94.0 bushels per acre, up 3.0 bushels from the May 1 forecast and up 23.0 bushels from last year.
Oregon winter wheat production is expected to total 44.6 million bushels, up 41 percent from last year. Area harvested is expected to total 720,000 acres, up 15,000 acres from the previous year. Yield is forecast at 62.0 bushels per acre, up 1.0 bushel from the May 1 forecast and up 17.0 bushels from last year.
Washington winter wheat production is forecast at 131 million bushels, up 85 percent from 2021. Harvested area, at 1.80 million acres, is up 110,000 acres from the previous year. Yield is forecast at 73.0 bushels per acre, up 6.0 bushels from the May 1 forecast and up 31.0 bushels from last year.
The U.S. Hard Red Winter production, at 582 million bushels, is down 1 percent from last month. Soft Red Winter, at 358 million bushels, is up 1 percent from the May forecast. White Winter, at 242 million bushels, is up 5 percent from last month. Of the White Winter production, 15.6 million bushels are Hard White and 226 million bushels are Soft White.
