BREWSTER, N.Y. — February 5, 2022 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Cornell Cooperative Extension, as part of its Putnam Pollinator Pathway effort, is offering a program on Winter Seed Sowing of Native Plants. This webinar will include a hands-on demonstration with materials provided so that attendees can follow along at home.
Native pollinators and other insects rely on native plants for food and shelter, yet native plants are often difficult to find in nurseries. Winter sowing native seeds is an easy and inexpensive way to grow a garden-full of native plants that will support pollinators and other native wildlife. Learn about the process of germination, the germination requirements of different seeds and the techniques for growing native flowering plants, shrubs, and trees from seed in a simple outdoor set-up. This workshop will also cover what materials and supplies you need, where to get seeds, how and when to plant your seeds, and how to care for your seedlings.
Attendees can register via https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/Winter_Seed_Sowing_2022_237, or visit putnam.cce.cornell.edu/events. Fee is on a sliding scale.
