ROME, N.Y. — With the changing weather patterns and temperatures, local dairy producers can also shift their thinking on how they approach winter calf care and calf health issues. Make plans to attend a Winter Shop Meeting focusing on winter calf care and tips for managing colostrum scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm. The host farm is John Collins’ farm, located at 8744 Thomas Rd. in Rome. Collins recently navigated through a short spell of wet calf health issues in the group-fed calf facility, and he is willing to share what he learned from the experience. Dr. Peter Ostrum, D.V.M. with Countryside Veterinary Clinic, will also be on hand to review the importance of proper colostrum management.
Lunch will be provided to participants who register in advance by texting or emailing Marylynn at (315)368-8603, mrm7@cornell.edu. Reservations are due by December 12, 2022
