TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried announced the winners of the third annual Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) Florida Agriculture History & Creativity Award Essay Contest, recognizing them on Twitter and Facebook.
“I’m inspired by all of the students who participated in this year’s contest, and I want to congratulate the winners whose essays really stood out,” said Commissioner Fried. “Their innovative approaches to creating new products out of such a versatile commodity like hemp leaves me with no doubt that the future of Florida agriculture is bright!”
The winners of the 2022 Florida Agriculture History & Creativity Award Essay Contest are:

Background: The Florida Agriculture History & Creativity Award Essay Contest was originally established by Commissioner Fried in 2019. The 500-word essay contest encourages students in grades 4-12 to learn about diverse agricultural history and industry of our state. The 2022 topic was hemp and the commodities that can be made from it in an effort to create and promote a more sustainable future for our state.
