ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Organic Growers School will receive 5% of net sales from all Whole Foods Market locations in the Asheville area on Thursday, April 18 as part of the company’s annual Community Giving Days. Both Whole Foods Market stores, on Merrimon Avenue and on Tunnel Road in Asheville will participate.
All funds raised during this Community Giving Day will support general operating expenses at Organic Growers School, which offers hands-on training, workshops, conferences and partnerships that inspire, educate, and support people to farm, garden, and live organically.
“We’re thrilled to have this opportunity for a national grocery store to support local food and farming systems,” says Lee Warren, Executive Director of Organic Growers School. “It’s a rare opportunity to keep money in the community and have it contribute to place-based sustainability. We are very grateful.”
The April Community Giving Day initiative focuses on organizations, partnerships, projects and events that leverage food to strengthen communities through economic growth, sustainable sourcing, environmental stewardship, and powerful collaborations. More than 500 Whole Foods Market locations will participate in the Community Giving Day by donating to organizations, projects and programs that support the mission of strengthening communities through food.
