SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The public is invited to the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Western Iowa Experimental Farm Association on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.
The meeting will be held in the Zimmerman meeting room at the Association Farm near Castana, with the agriculture program beginning at 10:00 a.m. Lunch will be provided following the meeting. The program will include a summary of activities at the farm in 2017, On-Farm and Iowa State University (ISU) Research activities, plus new management for herbicides on soybeans in Iowa including Dicamba options presented by ISU Field Agronomist Mike Witt.
A confinement-site manure applicator certification workshop will be held in the afternoon for producers needing certification.
The Western Farm is located on the south side of County road E-34, about 4 miles east of Castana or about 3 miles west of the junction of E-34 with County road L-32 (south of Mapleton and west of Ute). Hope to see you there!
Interested people are welcome at the Association’s annual Director’s meeting will be held at 9:00 am, prior to the program on site.
The Farm was founded in 1946 by local farmers and agricultural businesses within Crawford, Harrison, Monona, and Woodbury Counties, in cooperation with Iowa State University. Research and Demonstrations to benefit agriculture in these and neighboring West Central Iowa Counties and the annual meeting is one way to reach out to citizens with local information.
