Webinar covers feeding strategies to enhance fertility

April 26th: Feeding Strategies to Support Health and Fertility During the Transition Period

NEW PRAGUE, Minn. — The April 26 Dairy Cattle Reproduction Council webinar features Feeding Strategies to Support Health and Fertility During the Transition Period. Scheduled for 2 p.m. Central time, José Eduardo P. Santos, University of Florida, will summarize research that manipulated transition period diets.

In addition, Santos will discuss formulating prepartum diets that consider DCAD (dietary cation-anion difference), supplementing with rumen-protected choline, developing separate prepartum diets for first-calf heifers and cows, and adding moderate fatty acid to improve fertility. Furthermore, webinar participants will learn about proper cow comfort and heat abatement to support healthy transitions cows.
