LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. — Nurture Nature Center and Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards are excited to launch a new certification program – Watershed-Friendly Properties.
This program allows property owners to fill out a simple online application and qualify for a free* sign that certifies their property as watershed-friendly. Reducing stormwater runoff, reducing water pollution, conserving water, and supporting wildlife and pollinators are all critical elements of watershed-friendly properties. This webinar on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 7:00pm – 8:00pm, will introduce the program and provide resources and information on how to make your property more watershed friendly.
*The first 250 approved applications will receive a free metal yard sign to display their Watershed-Friendly Certification. A small fee for the sign will be required after the initial 250 signs are distributed.
Financial and other support for the “Watershed-Friendly Properties – an education and certification program” has been provided by the Department of Environmental Protection’s 2020 Environmental Education Grants Program.

Nurture Nature Center uses science, art and dialogue to help communities address local environmental risks. Through a diverse set of programs engaging adults, families and organizations, we are helping communities to understand the science, policy and cultural implications of issues including flooding and food access, and ways they can prepare and make positive changes for the future.
The Master Watershed Steward Program educates and empower volunteers to protect environmental resources. After receiving 40 hours of training, Master Watershed Stewards give back to the community by offering educational opportunities, collecting citizen science data, organizing clean ups, working on wildlife habitat and stream restoration projects and more!
