RUTLAND, Vt. — Do you need an escape from the virtual world of 2-dimensional living? The Vermont Woodlands Association (VWA) is pleased to invite you to its Annual Meeting, scheduled for Saturday October 9 beginning at 8:30 am outdoors or in an open air tent at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe. The full-day outside event kicks off with a Woods Walk around the property, which is followed by the Annual Business meeting, some exciting speakers, and a celebration/memorial service.
VWA event planners are working hard to ensure compliance with all Covid protocols in place at the time of the event. Attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within three days of the event.
This fun-filled and celebratory day will give all members the chance to reconnect with each other, enjoy a beautiful piece of Vermont’s outdoors, and pay tribute to Put Blodgett, long-time leader of VWA who passed away early in 2020. Bring along your stories and smiles as the VWA community takes this opportunity to remember and honor their past leader. The reception is free and open to all who wish to attend.
“The Vermont Woodlands Association is looking forward to this event; it has been a long time coming,” said Allan Thompson, president of VWA. “We can’t wait to take in everything the Trapp Lodge has to offer, especially at this picturesque time of year.”
Attendees to the event will start the day on guided Woods Walks to see where timber management, bird-friendly maple sugaring, and recreation converge on the 2500-acre parcel. Following the Woods Walks, the Trapp Family Lodge will serve up a delicious lunch under the tent, and then the Annual Meeting will be held thereafter. Once business is wrapped up for another year, there will be three speakers: John Austin will give a talk about Wildlife Habitat Connectivity and the Forest Landowner; then John Morton will discuss Trails for Recreation, Design, and Care; and finally Commissioner Michael Snyder will present The State of Vermont’s Forests. Two SAF Category 1 Credits have been assigned for this event. Afterward there will be a reception to celebrate and remember Put Blodgett, and anyone who isn’t quite ready to go home is welcome to pop open a chair at the bonfire.
With a full day of adventure, VWA invites everyone to join all day or for any part of the fun, food, and festivities. Follow this link to register for the Annual Meeting. Registration requested by Thursday September 30.
