AMES, Iowa — Practical Farmers of Iowa and southeastern Iowa farmer Mike Jackson will host a virtual cover crop field day and farm tour on Facebook Live this Thursday, March 26, from 1-2 p.m.
Mike farms with his wife, father and uncle on his family’s century farm near Rose Hill. He raises corn and soybeans, and the family operates three custom-fed swine buildings. They have been integrating cover crops for the past four years, and Mike also operates a custom planting and seed business.
During the field day, guests will get to learn how and why Mike uses cover crops, see some of the machinery he uses and ask him questions.
The event is free and open to everyone. To participate, visit PFI’s Facebook page at facebook.com/practicalfarmers shortly before the field day starts. Attendees do not need to have a Facebook account to join in.
