CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Join Penn State Master Gardeners in Franklin County for an informal, in-person workshop at their demonstration vegetable garden, the Victory Garden, to learn about using raised beds and no-till techniques to grow edible crops.
The September workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, September 20, 2022, from 6:30-7:30 pm, and will be held at the Victory Garden, across the street from the Extension office at 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Short talks by Master Gardeners on soil testing, composting, and cover crops to conserve soil, an essential resource, will be followed by time for Q&A and a guided walk around the Victory Garden.
There is a $5.00 registration fee, and informational handouts will be provided. The workshop will be held outdoors; attendees should dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for walking on sloping terrain. In the event of steady rain or severe thunderstorm threat or occurrence, the workshop will be postponed to Thursday of the same week, September 22, 6:30-7:30 pm. Participants should check the weather forecast prior to arriving for the workshop.
