Vermont pesticide applicator training for initial certification

April 19 - Armed Forces Reserve Center, White River Junction, and April 21 - Robert Miller Community Center, Burlington

UVM Extension and the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets are sponsoring the training for anyone in the state who uses, supervises, recommends or sells pesticides and/or trains Worker Protection Standard handlers and workers. BURLINGTON, Vt. — In-person meetings are planned for two locations this April for a review session and written examination for initial certification for the Vermont pesticide applicator license.

Dates and locations are April 19 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, 209 Balsam Ln., White River Junction, and April 21 at the Robert Miller Community Center, 130 Gosse Ct., Burlington. The review session will begin at 9 a.m. with the Vermont pesticide applicator core written exam scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m.

Registration is $30 until April 1 and $40 after that date. Early registration is required as space is limited. Participants should plan to bring or buy lunch.

The review session will cover material from theĀ Northeast Pesticide Applicator Core ManualĀ (third edition) that participants need to know to pass the written exam. Topics include state and federal pesticide laws and regulations, proper handling of restricted-use pesticides, personal safety and protective equipment, pest identification, formulations and equipment calibration, among others.

Participants must obtain the manual ($43) and required inserts (pdf downloads) in advance. These are available through the Vermont Agency of Agriculture atĀ https://bit.ly/2QvR7MT.
