DOSWELL, Va. — Many competition results from the 2018 State Fair of Virginia are available online.
“We had a lot of wonderful entries this year for our competitions,” said Stuart Sanders, the fair’s special events and educational competition manager. “We had nearly 3,500 entries from across the commonwealth. I hope next year we will have even more.”
In total, 621 blue ribbons were given to participants, and $6,234 was awarded to those who entered the adult and youth creative and culinary arts competitions, open crops, open plants, youth crops and plants, open honey and open preserved foods competitions.
Livestock competition results will be available on StateFairVa.org later this fall.
Registration for next year’s fair competitions will occur in mid-summer, with applications available online.
Each year the State Fair offers youth more than $70,000 in scholarship funds through 4-H, FFA and vocational competitions and specific equine, fine arts and horticulture competitions.
The 2019 State Fair of Virginia will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 6 at The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County.
