USDA NASS annual crop summary for the Northwest region

Harvest totals down for most crops in the region last year

In Oregon, all hay harvested totaled 890,000 acres, down 7 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 2.44 million tons, down 18 percent from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 2.74 tons per acre down 0.36 tons from 2020. All hay harvested in Washington totaled 710,000 acres, up 3 percent from 2020. OLYMPIA, Wash. — All wheat planted in Idaho totaled 1.23 million acres, down 1 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 1.13 million acres, is down 3 percent from the previous year. All wheat production totaled 76.5 million bushels, down 32 percent from the previous year. Yield is estimated at 67.6 bushels per acre, down 29.1 bushels from 2020. In Oregon, all wheat planted totaled 720,000 acres, down 3 percent from a year ago. Harvested area, at 705,000 acres, is down 3 percent from 2020. Production totaled 31.7 million bushels, down 32 percent from the previous year. Yield is estimated at 45.0 bushels per acre, down 19.0 bushels from 2020. In Washington, all wheat planted totaled 2.33 million acres, down 1 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 2.23 million acres, is down 3 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 87.2 million bushels, down 48 percent from 2020. Yield is estimated at 39.1 bushels per acre, down 33.3 bushels from the previous year.

All hay harvested in Idaho totaled 1.24 million acres, down 5 percent from 2020. All hay production totaled 4.55 million tons, down 14 percent from the previous year. Yield is estimated at 3.67 tons per acre down 0.38 tons from 2020. In Oregon, all hay harvested totaled 890,000 acres, down 7 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 2.44 million tons, down 18 percent from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 2.74 tons per acre down 0.36 tons from 2020. Potatoes planted in Idaho totaled 315,000 acres, up 5 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 314,500 acres, is up 5 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 129 million cwt, down 4 percent from 2020. Yield is estimated at
410 cwt per acre, down 40 cwt from the previous year. In Oregon, potatoes planted totaled 45,000 acres, unchanged from 2020. Harvested area, at 44,800 acres is down slightly from the previous year. Production totaled 26.4 million cwt, down 2 percent from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 590 cwt per acre, down 10 cwt from 2020. Potatoes planted in Washington totaled 160,000 acres, up 3 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 159,500 acres, is up 3 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 93.3 million cwt, down 6 percent from a year ago. Yield is estimated at 585 cwt per acre, down 60 cwt from 2020.

Dry beans planted in Idaho totaled 58,000 acres, down 15 percent from 2020. Harvested area, at 57,000 acres, is down 14 percent from the previous year. Production totaled 1.49 million cwt, down 7 percent from a year ago. Yield is
estimated at 26.1 cwt per acre, up 2.0 cwt from 2020. In Washington, dry beans planted totaled 40,000 acres, up 3 percent from the previous year. Harvested area, at 39,500 acres, is up 4 percent from a year ago. Production totaled 1.09 million cwt, up 3 percent from 2020. Yield is estimated at 27.7 cwt per acre, down 0.3 cwt from the previous year.
