PITTSBORO, N.C. — Many small farms are unsure how the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) affects the day to day aspects of the farm or if they can benefit from becoming GAP certified. While small farms may be exempt from the FSMA Produce Safety rule, the responsibility of minimizing food safety risk applies to every operation. From the field to the packing shed, we’ll identify possible risks and solutions during this on-farm event and discuss good agricultural practices that are relevant for small farms when it comes to growing, harvesting and packing produce. Come learn with us how to enhance the safety of the produce you grow!
