DUBUQUE, Iowa – Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Dubuque County is committed to ensuring the health and safety of our employees, volunteers, participants and communities because of situations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
ISU Extension and Outreach Dubuque County 4-H and local FFA chapters are finalizing the 2020 Dubuque County Fair schedules. Leaders are making decisions based on guidance from federal, state and local public health agencies, Iowa State University and the National FFA Organization.
ISU Extension and Outreach Dubuque County 4-H is committed to showcasing the hard work of 4-H members. 4-H programming gives youth the opportunity to feel physically and emotionally safe while actively participating in activities. COVID-19 has brought on many new challenges, which dictates changes from traditional fair schedules. The mission is to carefully weigh options and decisions to provide the safest venue possible while achieving 4-H fair objectives.
- Â To provide 4-H members an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned. This represents an educational function in which the 4-H members can share what they have done and serves to strengthen their life skill development.
- To provide feedback on 4-H member’s accomplishments. This recognition opportunity stimulates positive self-regard for their efforts.
- To provide families a chance to work together. This fellowship opportunity helps strengthen family relationships.
The 4-H mission is to empower youth to reach their full potential through youth-adult partnerships and research-based experiences. Fair is one of many ways in which the mission is upheld.
ISU Extension and Outreach Dubuque County 4-H and the Extension Council are working hard to provide opportunities for youth exhibits and shows. The health and safety of all is the top priority. Information will be released soon.
