ARDMORE, Okla. — Spring brings two challenges to agricultural producers: weeds and fertilizer needs. To help provide timely information, the Noble Research Institute will host two Weed Control and Soil Fertility seminars in March.
The first seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at the Mid-America Technology Center located at 27438 Highway 59 in Wayne, Oklahoma. The second seminar will be on Thursday, March 29, at the North Central Texas College located at 1525 W. California St. in Gainesville, Texas. Each seminar will take place from 1-3 p.m. on its respective day.
“Cost-effective fertilization and weed control practices are essential in cattle and hay production,” said Eddie Funderburg, Ed.D., senior soils and crops consultant. “Good weed control can be achieved in pastures and hay fields if attention to detail is followed. It is a matter of targeting the correct weed at the proper growth stage with a labeled herbicide under the right environmental conditions.”
Noble Research Institute soils and crops consultants will discuss concepts in pasture and hay fertilization and weed control. During the short seminars, participants will learn how to collect soil samples, read and understand soil test analyses and recommendations, and choose the correct fertilizer source and rate. Efficient and economical fertilization to increase yields while minimizing environmental risks will also be discussed.
The seminars are offered at no charge, but preregistration is requested. For additional information or to register, please visitwww.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
