LANCASTER, N.H. — This 3-day online short course is open to livestock owners of all skills and experience levels. It is designed to teach participants how to develop simple feed rations to meet the nutritional needs of livestock of all types and life stages, while meeting the production goals of their farm.
Mon 2/8: Basic Livestock Nutrition
An overview of ruminant and monogastric digestive systems in livestock, the role of nutrients in supporting animal growth and production Speaker: Dr. Pete Erickson, Professor/Extension Dairy Specialist
Tues 2/9: How to Formulate Livestock Rations
Participants will learn how to formulate rations on their farm using the Pearson square method and will be introduced to other tools to develop feed rations. Speaker: Carl Majewski, Extension Field Specialist
Mon 2/15: Help from an Expert!
Need help balancing rations? come to this “office hours” style meeting to get one-on-one help developing your feed plan. Speaker: Dr. Pete Erickson, Professor/Extension Dairy Specialist
