FALMOUTH, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering two workshops on healthy soils for home gardeners and farmers. Sessions in each of the two-day workshops are scheduled for 5–7 p.m.
“Introduction to soils for farmers and gardeners” will highlight methods for identifying soil texture, improving soil structure and practices for building soil health. The two-part workshop will be held March 20 at UMaine Extension, 15 Oak St., Springvale; and April 2, UMaine Extension, 75 Clearwater Drive, Suite 104, Falmouth.
“Building healthy soil for your farm” will focus on farm-scale practices for building soil health, including advanced cover cropping strategies, cultivation equipment and reduced tillage strategies. The two-part workshop be held April 9 at UMaine Extension, 75 Clearwater Drive, Suite 104, Falmouth; and April 25, UMaine Extension, 15 Oak St., Springvale.
