FALMOUTH, Maine — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Cumberland County announces it’s winter 2019 beekeeping course schedule. Offerings include two Beginner Beekeeping courses, a workshop on Honeybee Pests and Diseases, and a workshop on Queens and Nucs.
The Beginner Beekeeping courses are great opportunities for new beekeepers prior to their first year of beekeeping. It can also be a great refresher course for beekeepers going into their first winter. Courses will be on consecutive Tuesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The first runs from January 8th to February 5th and the second runs from February 19th to March 19th. The Honeybee Pest and Diseases workshop is focused on non-chemical and IPM strategies for the major threats to a healthy colony. It will be held January 3rd and 10th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The Queens and Nucs workshop will teach beekeepers to be more sustainable through the production and use of nucleus colonies and backyard queen production and will be held January 24th & 31st, 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
All of these courses will be offered at the UMaine Regional Learning Center at 75 Clearwater Drive, Suite 104, in Falmouth, ME. Registration can be found online at extension.umaine.edu/
