DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering a workshop on raising pigs 11 a.m.–2 p.m. March 22 at the UMaine Extension Piscataquis County office, 165 East Main St., Dover-Foxcroft.
Pork 101, a beginner’s guide to keeping pigs, includes when and where to buy pigs, and how to house, feed and keep them healthy. The program also includes a taste-testing of fresh, brined and smoked bacon. Extension livestock specialist Colt Knight will lead the workshop.
