FALMOUTH, Maine — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer several beginner and intermediate beekeeping courses at the UMaine Regional Learning Center, 75 Clearwater Drive, Falmouth.
The five-session beginner beekeeping class meets Jan. 7-Feb. 4, from 6-8 p.m., with a second session scheduled Feb. 18-March 17. The $100 per person fee for the beginner course includes a textbook. Instructors for both sessions are Master Beekeepers Jacky Hildreth and Peggy McLaughlin.
Intermediate classes begin Feb. 5–12 with a focus on honey bee diseases and pests; the $40 fee includes a textbook. From March 4–11, classes on queens and nucs for the backyard beekeeper will be offered for $35. Both classes meet 6:30–8:30 p.m. and will be taught by Master Beekeeper Erin MacGregor Forbes.
