GREENSBORO, N.C. — To kick start the 2nd Annual Guilford County Local Foods Week Celebration, please join us for a local Food Feast organized by the Guilford Food Council / Education Awareness and hosted at the Guilford County Cooperative Extension. Our theme, “The Ugly Food Feast,” will highlight issues surrounding food waste in our food system. We will be utilizing food that is imperfect and create a nutritious and healthy meal for our community.

The meal will feature locally grown produce that will be gleaned from farmer’s fields. Students from several of our local Colleges and Universities will work together to harvest the produce, normally rejected for standard marketing or sales outlets.
Local chef N’gai Dickerson, who is also the co-founder of Home Grown Hero’s, will turn “Ugly Food” into a wonderful and delicious feast with signature Nouvelle Urban Cuisine inspired dishes. As you eat, you can learn more about issues surrounding food waste and how you can get involved to help reduce it.
