GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A neighborly message of care and community from the University of Florida IFAS Extension has won a prestigious gold award from the American Advertising Federation in the Film, Video, Sound category. Named Best in Show for the Gainesville-Ocala market, this short video will now move on to compete at the district level.
The video, called “UF/IFAS Extension: We are that helpful friend,” tells the story of UF/IFAS Extension through the people it impacts — Florida residents.
“This piece really shows what UF/IFAS Extension is all about: helping people through education,” said Nick Place, dean for UF/IFAS Extension.
“In just over a minute, the images and narration capture the breadth and depth of expertise found at every county Extension office in the state, from Escambia to Monroe,” he said. “Moreover, it shows that Extension agents are part of the communities they serve. When people come to us to learn how to improve their crops or cook healthy, they come to us not as strangers but as neighbors. That’s the power of Extension, and I’m thrilled to see that message receive this level of recognition.”
The video features UF/IFAS Extension agents specializing in a variety of areas, including traditional agriculture, commercial and residential horticulture, livestock, family and consumer sciences, and youth development. With offices in each of Florida’s 67 counties, UF/IFAS Extension works to bring science-based solutions to the state’s agricultural and natural resources industries, and all Florida residents.
The award-winning video was produced by UF/IFAS Communications and Frankel Media group. View it online or watch below.
