ASHLAND, Ohio — Turk Brother’s Custom Meats Inc. of Ashland, Ohio, is issuing a voluntary recall of approximately 473 pounds of Mushroom and Swiss Bratwurst due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. Specifically, the product contains soy, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The Mushroom and Swiss Bratwurst were prepared for Bluebird Meadows and contained pack on dates between June 18, 2019, and November 19, 2019. This vacuum packaged product was packaged in various weights and distributed by Bluebird Meadows Farm at the following farmers markets between June 18, 2019 and March 14, 2020:
- 220 Crocker Park Boulevard, West Lake, Ohio
- North Franklin Street and North Main Street, Chagrin Falls, Ohio
- Clintonville Farmers Market, Columbus, Ohio
- Hudson Farmers Market on the Village Green, Hudson, Ohio
This problem was discovered by the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) Division of Meat Inspection (DMI) during a routine in-plant inspection. Inspection personnel discovered the seasoning packet did not match the facilities approved label on file.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
ODA routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that product is no longer available to consumers.
