LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas Tech University department of plant and soil science invite the public to the Turf, Landscape and Pollinator Research Open House from 8:00 a.m.-noon, July 8, at the Quaker Research Farm, Second Street and Quaker Avenue in Lubbock. Signs will be posted near Fourth Street and Quaker to the farm entrance.
“This is a free come-and-go event and we urge all interested seasoned or neophyte landscape enthusiasts to stop by,” said Vikram Baliga, AgriLife Extension horticulture agent in Lubbock County. “We’ll have topics and demonstrations on residential wetting agents versus organic fertilizers, turfgrass species and water use, native landscape plants and wildflowers, vegetable production trials and a pollinator habitat demonstration. We’ll also have news on landscape irrigation technology.
“So, if you have an interest in South Plains landscapes and gardening, this informal event will be a good place to have any questions you may have answered, as well as learn the latest technologies on several fronts.”
For more information, contact Baliga at 806-775-1740, Vikram.baliga@ag.tamu.edu, or Dr. Joey Young, 806-834-8457, Joey.young@ttu.edu.
