This annual show combines the major fruit, flower and vegetable associations of New York State in order to provide a comprehensive trade show and educational conference for New York producers, as well as neighboring states and Eastern Canada. In years past over 100 presentations were given by Cornell Cooperative Extension personnel and highly regarded speakers from across the country.
TREE FRUIT : FRUIT QUALITY – FRUIT FINISH ISSUES

Are you one of the many apple growers in NY and beyond that have seen an increase in fruit rots and lenticel issues on your fruit over the past several years? If so, you will want to come and hear why this is occurring, learn how to identify potential fruit finish issues, and learn some strategies that can implemented to reduce the problems. Cornell’s Dr. Srdjan Acimovic will present on Preventing Fruit Rots and Spray-associated Lenticel Issues in Apples. Dr. Acimovic is an Extension Associate in the Department of Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology Research at Cornell, and is housed in the Hudson Valley Research Laboratory. The session will close with Dr. Rob Blakey, a Tree Fruit Extension Specialist with Postharvest Information & Technology Transfer, Washington State University Extension. Dr. Blakey is has extensive experience in lenticel disorders in apples. The session is from 2-3:15 PM at the Empire Producers Expo in Syracuse on Wednesday, January 17, in the Allyn Hall Gym.
TREE FRUIT IPM II: CHEMICAL CONTROL

Chemical control is an important component of pest management, and in this session, Dr. John Wise of Michigan State University will provide some timely advice to growers regarding rainfastness and other effects of weather on insecticide efficacy (including the possible value of certain adjuvants). Dr. Art Agnello will then present an overview of some new tree fruit insecticidal products currently under development or near-market.

In years past over 100 presentations were given by Cornell Cooperative Extension personnel and highly regarded speakers from across the country. Panel discussions feature some of the top industry experts and growers in New York. Between educational sessions, attendees can visit the trade show featuring over 150 commercial vendors and non-profit exhibitors.
Educational sessions topics include commodity specific programs in berries, cabbage, snap beans, peas, beets, carrots, fruiting vegetables (tomatoes, peppers), cut flowers, tree fruit, sweet corn, tomato, onion, Cole crops, root crops, vine crops, and emerging markets (hops, malting barley, mushrooms, hemp, hard cider); and multidisciplinary programs in precision irrigation, weed management, soil health, biopesticides, beginning farmer operations, marketing, greenhouse production, climate and forecast models, GMOs, and wildlife management. DEC pesticide recertification credits and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) credits will be offered during the appropriate educational sessions.
