RUTLAND, Vt. — Come join a Tree Farm Tour on Saturday, September 17th hosted by the Vermont Woodlands Association. The walk will take place in Bradford, VT at the tree farm that is owned and managed by Boo Blodgett.
Mr. Blodgett, along with forester Andy McGovern, will lead attendees on a tour of the property and discuss a wide variety of topics. The tour will show some recent work that has been done on the property including areas of Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) thinning, a dam project that was completed in a pond, and areas of patch cuts that are a part of Mr. Blodgett’s management plan. An area of white pine plantation that has been affected by white pine weevils will be viewed and treatments for the pests will be discussed. The property includes some interesting features that will be a part of the tour such as areas of 100-year-old pine trees and the site of a former boys’ camp. Attendees will also have the chance to walk through Mr. Blodgett’s homestead which is entirely wind and solar powered.
The tour will be from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. The property is located at 480 Roaring Brook Road, Bradford, VT 05033. The walk is on mostly flat terrain and will take place rain or shine so proper footwear and apparel are encouraged.

From the center of Bradford head north 2 ½ miles to Roaring Brook Road and turn left. About 5/10 of mile down the road there will be an entrance gate to the property. Go through the gate, follow a slight bend in the driveway, and a parking area will be on the left. Signs will be up to direct attendees.
