RUTLAND, Vt. — On July 16, 2022, the Vermont Woodlands Association will be hosting a Tree Farm-focused Woods Walk. The walk will be led by Rick Bizzozero and consulting forester Ryan Kilborn.  The walk will be held at the Bizzozero Tree Farm located in East Brookfield in central Vermont and will begin at 9:00 A.M. rain or shine.

The 219-acre property has been under active management by the Bizzozero family for 65 years.  The walk will feature timber marking for an upcoming harvest designed to regenerate a white pine stand.  Consulting forester Ryan Kilborn will talk about methods that will be employed for regenerating stands in the forest including harvest areas of hemlock and mixed hardwood. The walk will highlight management practices implemented over the years to maintain and enhance wildlife habitat, protect water quality, and enhance property access for management activities and recreation opportunities.

There is no cost for the walk, but registration is required. To register, please email Rick at richardbizzozero@gmail.com or call at (617) 967-3077.  Access to the property is from a 3-season town road and limited sanitary facilities exist on the woodlot. Detailed written directions will be sent to each registrant. The walk will be on woods roads of mild to moderate incline and will take place rain or shine, so dress accordingly. Coffee, doughnuts, and drinking water will be provided.
