- Serve Local: Madison County has a great array of local foods! Whether you are looking for beef, ham, root vegetables, hot peppers, breads or spirits, this county has it! If you are hosting a holiday this season, visit www.madisoncountyfarms.com to search by product, OR enjoy the Celebrate Madison event this Saturday (December 8th) at 4pm at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County office at 100 Eaton Street, Morrisville, NY.
- Gift Local: Madison County has a beautiful array of gifts made by local vendors and local farmers! Homemade beeswax candles, soaps, scrubs and lotions, or even dog treats for your 4-legged family. You can find these at some of your local winter markets, or check out Madisoncountyfarms.com for some information on which farms are open with their items this time of the year! Or, there will be many gift vendors at the Celebrate Madison event.
- Drink Local: We have a great spread of spirits, brewed beverages, and wines in Madison County. There are so many options from bourbon to brandy and lager to Riesling. Beverages make a great gift, especially for a host or hostess! Old Home Distillers, Empire Farm Brewery and Madison County Distillery will be offering samples of their beverages at the Celebrate Madison event at 100 Eaton Street on Saturday Dec 8th.
Buying Local is good for the environment with lower shipping distances, typically less packaging, helps the local economy and your neighbors. Buying local helps create jobs and encourages connections between people. To buy local this season, start by visiting Celebrate Madison at 100 Eaton Street in Morrisville on December 8th from 4-7pm. Santa will be visiting, there will be free samples, cooking demos, free coffee and hot cocoa for shoppers and a craft for children!
