ORISKANY, N.Y. — Plan on attending the 22nd Annual Herb & Flower Festival held at the Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens. Share in the fun while wandering among the blooms and abundant plants that are for sale on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 is a gardener’s dream. This annual event is sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County Master Gardener Volunteers. The event is located at the Oneida County Farm and Home Center, 121 Second St., Oriskany, NY 13424. The botanical gardens are a showcase of new gardening ideas from raised beds to All- American Selections show-cased plant selections.
Festival hours are 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, and include 4 classes for gaining new gardening knowledge on the subjects of:
- Grow Foods with Ingredients to Improve Dietary Intake & Reduce Lead
- Pollinator Gardens for Your Home
- Woodland Plants
- Herbs and their Life Enhancement
There will be nearly 50 garden merchants selling abundant plants including trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetable plants along with other garden related items. The Master Gardener booth offers information on a great variety of topics and the chance to ask very specific gardening questions and acquire free Seeds (as long as they last).
The botanical gardens at the Cornell Cooperative Extension are carefully created to showcase plants for enjoyment, learning and use for the community. Yearly, great numbers of school groups come to learn and interact with the Cooperative Extension’s environmental field trip programs especially utilizing the vegetable and herb gardens, the Butterfly house and the Nature Trail. The nominal donation event fee of $4; raises funds that go towards the purchase of plants and other improvements and upkeep of the public Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens.
