ONEIDA CO., N.Y. — On Tuesday, April 26, four Oneida County 4-H Members competed in the District Horse Communications Contest held at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County in Oriskany, New York. Here they competed against other 4-H’ers from Onondaga and Madison counties. Lanelle Vile, of Port Leyden, won 1st place in the Senior Individual Presentation category with her presentation titled “Hippotherapy vs. EAP” and Abigail Douglas, of Camden, placed 2nd with her presentation on “Showmanship.” In the Junior Individual Presentation category Ali Teel, of Barneveld, placed 1st overall with her presentation titled “What to Look for When Purchasing a Horse” and Raelinn Doxstader, of Remsen, placed 3rd with her presentation on “Equine Dentistry”. Congratulations to all of the presenters! You all did a wonderful job!
Lanelle Vile and Abigail Douglas both qualified to represent Oneida County at the NYS Horse Communications Contest on May 14th at Cornell University! By the end of the contest, Lanelle placed 2nd overall and Abigail placed 4th overall! Congratulations on your accomplishments!
The Horse Communications program consists of the following categories: Individual Presentations, Public Speaking and Team Presentations. The 4-H member must choose a horse related topic and develop their presentation paying particular attention to organization, content and time limits.
