BELMONT, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension is excited to announce The Weather Zoom Talk.
After the “Grow your own workshop series”, the master gardener M. L. Wells comes with a new program on the weather, an important topic to understand why we have seasons and other areas do not, how the combination of temperature, humidity, wind, and pressure affects us and all the organisms that live on this Earth.
This is a nine-part program on the weather, every fun and basic thing that every person wants to know about what it means to live at the bottom of an ocean of air! Answering questions as: why is it hot in the tropics and cold in the Arctic? And why do the cacti grow in Arizona and palm trees in Florida? is the weather the same as climate? why does it take longer to fly west to Los Angeles than it does to fly east to New York? Can angels, or anyone, sit on the clouds? And do tornadoes only happen in Tornado Alley and why are there no hurricanes in Montana? Finally, thoughts on the weather and climate change from an old gardener.
Dates: Every 2 weeks, starting November 18th 2022, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Join in person at the Alfred Box of Books Library (1 West University Street, Alfred, NY. 14802) or via Zoom using this link:  http://alfredboxofbookslibrary.org/events/ (check the library website for sign-in details).
