BISMARCK — The importance of messaging. Here at NDFB, we don’t sell a product. We don’t have that better mouse trap or that widget. We sell a belief, a set of principles and a message. And messaging becomes the foundation of what we do; advocating for agriculture and advocating for the success of all North Dakota.
When we message we have to take into consideration what our priorities are. And our priorities are agriculture first. And that messaging, over the last few decades, has become ever-more important to do it efficiently and effectively and timely. Because as the technology has changed, so has the rapid-fire from those that may not like us.
And to answer those rapid-fires requires a rapid-fire response done in a very managed way. I’m proud to say that at NDFB, we have been getting better at our messaging. And one of the things that sets the tone for our messaging each year is coming up in just about 12 days: NDFB’s 75th annual meeting in Fargo.
And that’s where we set that tone from our membership, based on our policy, that puts us into the political scene, when it comes to everything that affects us as individuals, and us as farmers and ranchers.
So, it’s important if you are a member to come out and take part in setting that strategy, setting that messaging for the next year. And if you’re not a member yet, we invite you to take this opportunity on our 75th year to join us in that very strong advocating position that we have, for agriculture.
