The Dairy Signal features animal vaccines, hunting season updates and market news

Beginning Tuesday, November 9, three new episodes of PDPW's The Dairy Signal™ will air.

JUNEAU, Wis. — Beginning Tuesday, November 9, three new episodes of PDPW’s The Dairy Signal™ will air. The Tuesday edition will focus on how animal vaccines are developed and how they work. Wednesday’s episode will feature tips for deer hunting safety and updates on animal disease during the popular season. On Thursday, economist Dan Basse will return to bring a bi-weekly market analysis and news update.

Tuesday, Nov. 9

How do animal vaccines really work?  Learn the ins and outs of viruses and how vaccines can be used most effectively in your herd. Episode presenter will be:

  • Dr. Amelia Woolums, DVM, MVSc, PhD, DACVIM, DACVM, Professor, Department of Pathobiology and Population Medicine, Mississippi State University

Wednesday, Nov. 10
Tune in for recommendations for both landowners and hunters to prepare for deer hunting season, as well a refresher on hunter safety tips.  The Wisconsin State Veterinarian will join the discussion with an update on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) and tuberculosis with a focus on protecting both dairy herds and people. Episode presenters will be:

  • Jon King, Hunter Education Administrator and Conservation Warden, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
  • Dr. Darlene Konkle, DVM, MS, DACVIM, State Veterinarian, Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection

Thursday, Nov. 11
Gain insights on the latest news and analysis of agricultural markets and trends that will impact dairy producers and ag industry. Episode presenter will be:

  • Dan Basse, Economist and President of AgResource Company

Developed by fellow dairy farmers from the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDPW) Board of Directors, The Dairy Signal™ is a weekly series of free educational episodes offering insights and resources for fellow dairy farmers and other food system professionals throughout the value chain. The episodes air live from 12:00-1:00 PM CT each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Live sessions offer attendees the opportunity to engage in open Q&A with the speakers; recorded sessions are available later in the day. All Dairy Signal episodes are accessible through www.pdpw.org.
