IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County (CCE-Monroe) will carry on the tradition of hosting their annual Chicken BBQ, Saturday, September 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at their office at 2449 St. Paul Boulevard in Irondequoit.
The BBQ features the famous Cornell Chicken recipe created by Dr. Robert Baker, a Cornell University Professor Emeritus. Dr. Baker’s recipe is simple but delicious and is hailed as one of the best marinades this side of Texas! CCE-Monroe’s Cornell Chicken Dinner includes grilled ½ Cornell Chicken, Cajun corn, salt potatoes, and a roll with butter, all expertly prepared by Wilshire Catering.
Usually the CCE-Monroe event includes a dine-in option with family-friendly activities and live music provided by the Rochester Area Performing Arts Youth Band. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the dine-in option of the event has been eliminated this year. But the “show must go on” and the famous Cornell chicken must be made available nonetheless! Therefore, this year’s event will feature a fast and easy drive-thru. Consider pre-purchasing meals for the whole family, drive thru, and then head over to one of our great county parks for a fun family outing.
CCE-Monroe’s 4-H Youth will also be onsite selling pre-packaged baked goods for your sweet tooth! All baked goods proceeds will go directly to support 4-H programming.
