OKLAHOMA CITY — Last Saturday evening, Terry Chapman, Norman, Okla. was honored with Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association’s (OCA) Distinguished Service Award. The OCA Distinguished Service Award is presented to an individual who expresses outstanding leadership and dedication to the Oklahoma beef cattle industry and to OCA. Past recipients have been educators, researchers, influencers, and friends of the OCA.
“We were excited to honor a great friend of OCA and lifelong leader in marketing Oklahoma beef cattle,” said Michael Kelsey, Executive Vice President of the OCA.
Chapman was hired by the Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) as a regional executive director assisting local livestock markets. Forty-four years later, on July 15, 2021, Terry retired from that position having faithfully and steadfastly represented LMA so very well.
“I have had the distinct pleasure to work with Terry on many issues. He always brings integrity, cooperation and passion for his membership and the cattle industry to each meeting opportunity,” said Kelsey. “Terry has faithfully attended OCA Conventions and Winter Policy meetings and has made sure that OCA always felt welcome to the annual Oklahoma LMA meetings. Terry’s perception and outlook for an issue is positive as he seeks opportunities to work together to bring positive benefit to everyone involved.”
The 69th Annual OCA Convention and Trade Show was held July 23 and 24 at the Embassy Suites in Norman, Okla. The event is held in conjunction with the Oklahoma CattleWomen, Inc., and the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen’s Association’s Annual Meetings. The OCA Convention and Trade Show is the largest annual gathering of beef producers in Oklahoma. Cattlemen and women come together to create policy, listen to informative speakers, celebrate industry accomplishments, and recognize individuals and groups, like the Terry Chapman, who contribute to the success of the OCA.
The OCA is the trusted voice of the Oklahoma Cattle Industry. OCA is the only voice that speaks solely for the cattlemen of Oklahoma and represents beef producers in all 77 counties across the state. The OCA officers, board of directors and membership encourages you to join us in our advocacy efforts to ensure less government intervention, lower taxes and a better bottom line.
