FAIRMONT, Minn. — Do you know the terrestrial and aquatic invasive species that are in Minnesota and are in our area? Learn more about these pests at the Invasive Species Update, Tuesday, April 24, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall (920 East 10th St.) in Fairmont, MN. This program is free and open to the public.
Herbaceous weeds such as Canada and Bull Thistle, Teasel, Creeping Charlie, Purple loosestrife, Garlic mustard, Leafy spurge, Reed canary grass, Spotted knapweed and Wild parsnip will be discussed. Woody invasive species, Buckthorn, Oriental bittersweet, and other woodys will be highlighted. Aquatic Invasives (Curley-leaf pondweed, Eurasian Watermilfoil, Zebra Mussel, and Invasive Carp) and insect pests (Emerald ash borer, Spotted Wing Drosophila and Brown Marmorated Stink Bug) will be discussed.
Learn how to identify, report and manage these pests to promote healthy woodlands, prairies and Minnesota landscapes. Publications and resources will be available. This program is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension, Martin County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Martin County AIS Prevention Plan. Presenters include: Rich Perrine, Dustin Benes and Gary Wyatt.
