ANGOLA, Ind. — Tami Mosier, 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator with the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service in Steuben County, was honored with a Distinguished Service Award presented by the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents. Mosier was among approximately 1,000 4-H youth development professionals from across the nation to participate in the Association’s 72nd annual conference during October 7-11, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio.
Each year, the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA) recognizes members for their 4-H/Extension work by presenting awards for outstanding accomplishments in achievement, leadership, service and communication. Mosier received the Distinguished Service Award during the annual awards and recognition banquet on Thursday, October 11.
Educators who have served more than seven years in Extension 4-H youth programs are eligible for the Distinguished Service Award. In Indiana, the national Distinguished Service Awards are voted on by more tenured, past service award winners, and only three Indiana 4-H Educators earn the Distinguished Service Award annually.
Mosier is a Wells County native where she was a ten-year 4-H member under the leadership of 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator Roger Sherer, a past Achievement in Service, Distinguished Service, and Meritorious Service Award Winner. Mosier accepted her position in Steuben County in December of 2010 and serves as County Extension Director in addition to her role as 4-H Youth Development Extension Educator.
NAE4-HA is a globally recognized, culturally diverse network for 4-H youth development professionals. Membership is open to local, regional, state or national Cooperative Extension staff members who work with 4-H youth programs. Affiliate membership is available to other youth development professionals, former NAE4-HA members, and supporters. Membership in this organization provides regional newsletters, opportunities for professional recognition and awards at state, regional and national levels, educational scholarships and grants, leadership development opportunities through association leadership positions and leadership development conferences and the opportunity to attend the annual NAE4-HA conference featuring professional improvement seminars, poster sessions, research papers and exhibits.
The conference theme was “Reinvent yourself: Imagine, Inspire, Innovate.” The conference allowed 4-H/Extension Youth Development Professionals the opportunity to learn innovative, up to date educational information, methods and techniques, exchange ideas, and promote cooperation among all Extension personnel.
