GREELEY, Colo. — Colorado Corn Executive Coordinator Ann Cross — who also serves as Colorado’s state facilitator for CommonGround — along with fellow CommonGround volunteers Sondra Pierce, Nikki Weathers and Colleen Peppler recently took part in dinner and discussions with school food program organizers.
The event was arranged by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, with representatives of Denver Public Schools and Greeley District 6 joining the CommonGround volunteers at the table.
CommonGround was founded by the National Corn Growers Association, the United Soybean Board and their state affiliates to help connect women in agriculture with dietitians, nutritionists, other food-industry influencers and the mothers buying food for their families, to have conversations about how food is produced.
Women who volunteer for CommonGround — many of whom are boots-on-the ground producers, like Sondra, Nikki and Colleen — share personal experiences, as well as science and research, to help these various audiences sort through the misinformation surrounding food and farming.

In case you missed it, there was an article about a pair of Colorado CommonGround volunteers — Danell Kalcevic and Colleen Peppler — in a recent edition of the Lakewood Sentinel, focusing on the many women who play key roles in ag.
