RALEIGH — Field trips to local food projects are a great way for local food system professionals and students to learn about project approaches and lessons learned that can be applied in other projects in other places. NC State Extension has led the development of four virtual field trips of local or community-based food system projects and businesses in North Carolina. Virtual field trips have been developed with organizations and projects highlighted below. Visit these projects, virtually, and let us know what you think about this platform. Send questions or comments about these virtual field trips to joanna_lelekacs@ncsu.edu.
- Open Door Farms, Orange County, NC – go.ncsu.edu/OpenDoorFarmVFT
- Produce Facility Value Chain, Warren and Halifax Counties, NC – go.ncsu.edu/ChoppedProduceValueChainTour
- Elma C. Lomax Incubator Farm, Cabarrus County, NC – go.ncsu.edu/lomax360.
These virtual field trips were developed to support learning objectives within an online local food systems professional development certificate training that is currently being piloted and will be publicly available later in 2017 or early 2018.
