AUSTIN — The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) is pleased to announce the new Amarillo Region Director, Dr. Sherri Gress.
Dr. Gress was born and raised in Wooster, Ohio on a small dairy farm. Throughout her youth she worked on the family farm and was actively involved in 4-H, FFA, and Dairy Judging. She graduated from The Ohio State University and attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where she received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Upon graduation, Dr. Gress accepted a position in a private mixed-practice clinic before accepting a public sector position with the USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) in Hereford, TX. After spending more than three years with FSIS, Dr. Gress worked in a private veterinary practice in Clovis, NM, where she gained a great deal of experience with the dairy industry and calf ranch operations.
“I am excited about my new position as Amarillo Region Director for the Texas Animal Health Commission. I believe my education and past work experience will greatly aid me in performing the responsibilities in this role with TAHC,” said Dr. Gress.
Dr. Gress is a member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and the United State Animal Health Association. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, baking, and volunteering at the Humane Society of Deaf Smith County and Parmer Paws, the animal shelters in Hereford and Friona, TX.
